Personally paid household expenses

Include a private payment in household records without sharing your account or paying twice.

Updated: 10/6/2026

Record once, show in the household

  1. Record the actual payment from your personal account or credit card.
  2. Use household inclusion on the eligible personal transaction.
  3. Select your household, its category and an optional shared description.
  4. Review the household view. Your personal balance was changed only by the original payment.

You must be an active member with permission to write. Transfers, private-loan movements, reversal rows and refund child rows cannot be included separately. Refunds follow the original included transaction while the link is active.

What the household sees

The household sees the payer, included amounts, household category and shared description. It does not gain access to your private account, tags or receipt attachments. Personal and household totals are different views; do not add them together as if they were separate payments.

While the link is active, changes and voids of the source are reflected. Removing inclusion stops showing it in household reporting without deleting the personal transaction.

When membership ends

The household keeps a frozen historical snapshot. The former payer cannot edit that household record, and later private changes do not rewrite it. Rejoining does not unlock the old snapshot. An authorized household owner/admin can exclude retained history from reporting with a reason; this does not erase the audit history.

Inclusion does not create a reimbursement, an amount owed between members or a real transfer.
